What is the
Northern Virginia Hokie Club?
We are a geographic based Hokie Club chapter, dedicated to giving Virginia
Tech fans in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC Metropolitan Area the ability to support
the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund (VTAF). For more info about becoming a
member just send us an e-mail at
info@novahokieclub.com.
Goals:
- Support Virginia Tech Athletics by raising funds for the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund via recruitment and retention of members to the "Hokie Club".
- Recruit, retain and upgrade members with emphasis on the Northern Virginia area of the state. This is more commonly known as the area covering Alexandria, Arlington, Falls Church, Fairfax City, Fairfax County, Loudoun County and Prince William County. Members are welcome from other areas at their choosing.
- Support the Virginia Tech "fan experience" by organizing activities such as bus trips, game watching parties, tailgate events, etc. in and around the area.
Guidelines:
- The Northern Virginia Hokie Club is part of the overall Hokie Club organization run out of Blacksburg and commonly
known as the VTAF (Virginia Tech Athletic Fund).
- Officers include:
- President - organizes and chairs meetings, provides general liaison with the VTAF, and provides overall leadership.
- Vice President - assists the president, performs in absence of the president, and is the next president in waiting.
- Treasurer/Secretary - responsible for club financial records and recording of meeting minutes and subsequent distribution to members.
- Ex-Officio (Past President) - advises the current officers.
- Elections are held every two years. Nominations are made by the Hokie Reps in good standing, and elections are held
in the late winter and spring of even numbered years. Officers take positions at the end of the summer VTAF meeting
of those even numbered years.
- The above named officers comprise the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee can meet, propose actions,
and proceed if required when regular meetings of the club cannot accommodate the time sensitivity of the issue.
- The club has two standing leadership roles:
- Webmaster - responsible for timely updating of the website at the direction of the officers or Executive Committee. This position is currently filled by Michael Wherley.
- Events - responsible for managing projects and events undertaken by the club. Currently open position.
